چکیده
A 32-year-old woman who was followed for mammary adenoma every six months was found to have a left adrenal tumor on ultrasound examination in August 2016. She had no complaints and no abnormalities on physical examination. Blood analyses, including biochemical test and endocrinological test, were within normal values. However, 24-h urine collection showed modest elevation of catecholamines except for adrenaline and metanephrine. CT and MRI showed a round left adrenal mass, with a diameter of 54 mm (Fig. 1). 123I-adosterol scintigraphy showed no uptake in the tumor. We suspected the tumor of a paraganglioma with low endocrine activity or a malignant adrenal tumor based on these radiological examinations. Laparoscopic left adrenalectomy was performed with a transperitoneal approach. During the operation, the patient's blood pressures and heart rates were within normal ranges. Macroscopic examination showed that the color of the divided surface was mahogany. On microscopic examination, the tumor had a capsule and was well-circumscribed,

Oncocytic Adrenocortical Neoplasm Diagnosed after Robot-Assisted Adrenalectomy
Oncocytic tumors, composed of eosinophilic, mitochondria-rich cells, can occur in several locations throughout the body. These tumors can occur in the adrenal cortex and are rarely malignant. We report a case of a patient presenting with an incidental adrenal mass which was later diagnosed as a oncocytic adrenocortical neoplasm (OAN). The patient is a 53-year-old man found to have a 7.2 cm righ...

INTRODUCTION Primary pigmented nodular adrenocortical disease is a rare cause of adrenocorticotropic hormone-independent Cushing's syndrome. We report an uncommon primary pigmented nodular adrenocortical disease case presenting with a unilateral adrenocortical nodule and provide a brief overview of the existing literature. CASE PRESENTATION A 27-year-old Caucasian woman was admitted to our De...
متن کاملA Case of Oncocytic Adrenocortical Neoplasm of Borderline (Uncertain) Malignant Potential
Oncocytic neoplasms are tumors composed predominantly or exclusively of oncocytes (large polygonal cells with granular eosinophilic cytoplasm due to abnormal mitochondrial accumulation). These tumors are frequently reported in the thyroid, kidneys, and salivary glands. However, they are distinctly rare in the adrenal cortex. Oncocytic adrenocortical neoplasms (OAN) are classified regarding thei...
متن کاملAdrenal oncocytic neoplasm: a systematic review.
INTRODUCTION Oncocytic neoplasms as tumors arising in the adrenal glands are rare, usually considered as nonfunctional and benign. In the current literature, there are extremely limited reports of adrenal oncocytic neoplasms; as to date, only 147 cases have been described. The rarity of the event prompted this study which reviews and presents the incidence, histology, diagnosis and therapy of a...

The benefits of laparoscopic adrenalectomy for single adrenal lesion have been well documented in literature; less experience though has been reported with simultaneous bilateral laparoscopic adrenalectomy. This operation is indicated in case of primary hypercortisolism caused by bilateral adrenocortical hyperfunction, Cushing's disease after failure of pituitary surgery, ectopic adrenocorticot...
